Prof. Mo-Yuen Chow

Brief Biography: Mo-Yuen Chow earned his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S., 1982); and Cornell University (M. Eng., 1983; Ph.D., 1987). Upon completion of his Ph.D. degree, Dr. Chow joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University as an Assistant Professor. He became an Associate Professor in 1993, and a Professor since 1999. Dr. Chow is a Changjiang Scholar and a Visiting Professor at Zhejiang University. He worked in U.S. Army, TACOM TARDEC Division as a Senior Research Scientist during the summer of 2003. He spent his sabbatical leave as a Visiting Scientist in 1995 in ABB Automated Distribution Division.

Dr. Mo-Yuen Chow is the founder and the director of the Advanced Diagnosis, Automation and Control Laboratory at North Carolina State University. His recent research focuses on distributed control, and fault management with applications on smart grids, PHEVs, batteries, and mechatronics/robotics systems. He has served as a Principal Investigator in projects supported by various federal agencies and private companies. He has published one book, seven book chapters, and over two hundred journal and conference articles. Dr. Chow is an IEEE Fellow, a co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, was the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics 2010-2012, a co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, a past Technical Editor of IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics, a past Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. He was the Vice President for Publication of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society in 2006-2007, and the Vice President for Membership of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society in 2000-2001. He was the General Chair of IEEE-IECON05, the General Co-Chair of IEEE-IECON10 and IEEE-ISIE12. Dr. Chow served as a guest editor for the IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics Focus Section on Mechatronics in Multi Robot Systems (2009), IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics special sections on Distributed Network-Based Control Systems and Applications (2003), on Motor Fault Detection and Diagnosis (2000), and on Application of Intelligent Systems to Industrial Electronics (1993). He was a Senior Fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2003. He has received the IEEE Eastern North Carolina Section Outstanding Engineering Educator Award in 2004, the IEEE Region-3 Joseph M. Biedenbach Outstanding Engineering Educator Award in 2005, the IEEE Eastern North Carolina Section Outstanding Service Award in 2007, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Anthony J Hornfeck Service Award in 2013. He is a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE IES.

 

Prof. Dr. Ing Marco Liserre

Brief Biography: Marco Liserre received the MSc and PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the Bari Polytechnic, respectively in 1998 and 2002. He has been Associate Professor at Bari Polytechnic and from 2012 Professor in reliable power electronics at Aalborg University (Denmark). From 2013 he is Full Professor and he holds the Chair of Power Electronics at Kiel University (Germany).

He has published 450 technical papers (more than 1/3 of them in international peer-reviewed journals) and a book. These works have received 30000 citations. Marco Liserre is listed in ISI Thomson report “The world’s most influential scientific minds” from 2014.

He has received the IES 2009 Early Career Award, the IES 2011 Anthony J. Hornfeck Service Award, the 2014 Dr. Bimal Bose Energy Systems Award, the 2011 Industrial Electronics Magazine best paper award and the Third Prize paper award by the Industrial Power Converter Committee at ECCE 2012, 2012, 2017 IEEE PELS Sustainable Energy Systems Technical Achievement Award, the 2018 IEEE-IES Mittelmann Achievement Award and the Second Place Prize Paper Award for 2018 in the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. He did become IEEE Fellow at the age of 38 and got the highest IEEE-IES Award at the age of 44.

 

Prof. Junye Wang
Athabasca University, Canada

 

Brief Biography: Dr. Junye Wang is a Professor and the Campus Alberta Innovation Program (CAIP) Research Chair at Athabasca University, Canada. He received his M.Sc. degree in thermo-physics from Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute, Ph.D. degrees in chemical and mechanical engineering from East China University of Science and Technology in 1989 and 1996, respectively. Then he joined Shanghai Jiaotong University as an associate professor in 1996.

From 1999 till 2012 he worked at the Universities of Sheffield, Greenwich, and Loughborough, and Scottish Crop Research Institute and Rothamsted Research, UK, as research associate, research scientist and principal research scientist, respectively. Dr. Wang has over 30 years’ experience of multi-scale and multidisciplinary modelling and is internationally recognized leader in energy, environment and sustainability. Prof. Wang and his team has been developing a modelling framework of integrated terrestrial and aquatic systems by utilizing innovative computational technologies. He has authored/co-authored over 150 papers, including over 80 refereed journal papers, and serves as associate editor and editorial board member on several international journals. He is also a reviewer of papers for over 80 international journals.
